Mechatronics Engineer (Job ref. A078)

Nottingham, England (On-site). £26,000/yr - £32,000/yr. Full-time.

Role

The successful candidate will be tasked with a mix of project delivery and internal product development in the 3D Printing/Additive Manufacturing sector. Project delivery is highly varied and will extend the engineers scope and depth of knowledge in several disciplines including design, manufacturing, finishing, and analysis techniques. In product development, the engineer will be engaged in product design and development all the way from prototyping to manufacture.

The role is likely to be a 70:30 split between practical time working in the lab and in the office (or remote).


Responsibilities

This is the opportunity to work in a dynamic team in a small but growing company, the role requires the successful candidate to take on responsibilities including but not limited to:

  • The creation of experimental designs and carrying out testing

  • The design and development of product or project related mechatronics

  • Working autonomously, and with a team on additive manufacturing research projects

  • Assisting with running and maintaining of lab and facilities

  • Building knowledge and expertise in the field of AM

  • Contributing to team meetings

  • Reporting progress internally and to external project clients


Skills and Qualifications

The candidate must have:

  • Mechanical design or similar engineering degree

  • Legal entitlement to live and work in the UK

  • Experience with the use of CAD (Solidworks desirable)

  • Excellent written and spoken English with the ability to write clearly

The candidate ideally would have:

  • Strong mechatronics background

  • Strong python or similar scripting language

  • Experience of AM methods at the prototyping stage

  • Experience working in a lab including completing COSHH and risk assessments

  • Background understanding of inkjet technology
