jetforge driver board

This board is a milestone for Added Scientific as it was not a contract research project turned product, we set out to enable Material Jetting and to do this, we first had to select which head would best suit that space.

Although not perfect (it cannot handle aqueous), we have taken the “old workhorse” Xaar128 (or Irix) and given it a new lease of life. With our driver board and kit, these heads can be heated, the waveform can be modified, and all in a simple easy to use manner for people new to inkjet or experienced users.

Designed with research and development in mind, one of the many capabilities of our low-cost 3D printing inkjet driver board is that it can integrate seamlessly onto off-the-shelf domestic 3d printing filament printers, whilst still being fully reversible.

PIXDRO LP50 Binder Jetting Stage

The Meyer Burger PixDRO LP50 printer is a great robust platform for printing development aimed at the 2D market, but the Z movement is such that medium sized 3D parts can also be printed.

At Added Scientific Limited we have been interested in developing both powders and binders and there is currently no entry-level binder jetting development system on the market.

As such, we developed a LP50 modification to support binder recoating with multiple printheads. By removing the base substrate and partial supporting carriage we were able to include a powder feed and build area that supports a build volume of 100 mm x 80 mm x 10 mm. Large enough for part development and importantly, mechanical test samples.

DIMATIX DRIVER BOARD

At Added Scientific we routinely experiment with a large catalogue of material loaded inks, from typical solvent suspensions and UV curable to highly functionalised and targeted biocompatible inks. We run curing mechanisms from evaporation, phase-change, light sensitive, thermally sensitive, and even more complex multi-component reactive systems. Throughout this process we make a lot of false turns which result in a lot of damaged or destroyed cartridges. Running the disposable Dimatix material printer (DMP) cartridges lets us trail many formulations in a single day, each in sterile conditions.

The DMP is a great tool, but it is a very basic and limited printer. On the other hand the Dimatix material cartridge (DMC) is a great robust tool which we have used on many projects, and currently have had it mounted on five different printing rigs. From developing binder for powder coating, to developing a two components polyurethane ink for novel material formulations.

The Dimatix driver board is capable of full analogue waveform modification, with a non-jetting voltage allowing for the key voltage drop prior to printing. To handling the thermal and printing pattern data. It has been designed in a way to facilitate multiple boards daisy chaining for multiple print head applications.
